What is Guru Purnima?
As you know, in ancient times, there used to be gurukuls
instead of schools, and all children used to take education there. All the
disciples were considered equal in these gurukuls, be it the child of any rich
or poor, equal to both the behavior and knowledge of the guru.
The Guru used to shower the same blessings of blessings on
all his disciples. Since then the Guru-Shishya tradition started. Although all
days are special for Guru and disciple, the full moon day of Ashadha month is
celebrated as Guru Purnima. Which we know as Guru Purnima.
Why is Guru Purnima celebrated?
There is also a belief behind celebrating a holy festival
like Guru Poornima which is associated with Maharishi Ved Vyas. Maharishi Ved
Vyas occupies a special place in Hinduism, it is believed that Maharishi Veda
Vyasa was born on the full moon day of Ashadha month and to honor them this day
is celebrated as Guru Purnima.
Maharishi Veda Vyasa composed many texts including
Mahabharata. Both Kauravas and Pandavas considered him their guru.
Gurus in India are considered to be multiple and are highly
respected. Gurus have been given the status of God since ancient times. There
is a Guru who prevents the disciple from following the wrong path and paves the
way for it. Even the great Guru of our country is behind celebrating Guru
Purnima.
The reason for celebrating this day is that on this day the
great Guru Maharishi Ved Vyasa who composed the wonderful literature like
Brahmasutra, Mahabharata, Srimad Bhagavat and Eighteen Puranas, was born.
In ancient times, the day of Guru Purnima was celebrated as
a special day. On this day, the festival was not only a celebration. The two
most important tasks related to Gurukul were done on this day. First- On the
auspicious time of Guru Purnima, new students used to get admission in Gurukul.
That is, Guru-Purnima Day used to be Admission Day.
All inquisitive students used to come before the Guru on
this day with support. They used to pray - "O Guruvara, light a flame of
knowledge within us." We offer ourselves as a support for that. ”Secondly,
in the Mangal Bela of Guru Purnima, the students were awarded graduation
degrees. That is, Guru Purnima Day was also Convocation Day.
The students who imbibed all the teachings of the Guru and
whose skill and ability were not doubted by the Guru; They used to get
certificates on this day. He would vow to sit at the Guru's feet - 'Guruvar, by
staying in your company, by your grace, we will apply the knowledge we have
acquired for the public interest and welfare.' By giving this Gurudev this
Dakshina, the student will be in the world. That is, they used to get into

When is Guru Purnima celebrated?
The full moon of Ashada Shukla Paksha is celebrated as Guru
Purnima throughout the country. It is believed that Maharishi Ved Vyas was born
on Ashada Purnima about 3000 BC. In his honor, the full moon of Ashadh month is
celebrated as Guru Purnima.
On the day of Guru Purnima, many people worship their late
Guru or Brahmin saints with their incense, lamps, flowers, akshat, sandalwood,
naivedya, etc. The meaning of Gu is given in the scriptures - the meaning of
darkness and Ru - its prevention.
The Guru is called a Guru because he removes ignorance from

devotion to spiritual gurus. People thank their teachers and gurus and also
remember the previous teachers and spiritual teachers. Hindu spiritual gurus

Vyasa Pujan is organized on Guru Purnima in many Hindu
temples.
"Trinok Guha" is revered in Jain temples and his

Mahavira made his first disciple. In Jainism, the term Trinoka Guha is a

In Nepal, Guru Purnima day is celebrated as Teachers' Day.

Some people celebrate the festival of Guru Purnima in
Muhurta. After getting up early in the morning, take a bath, and retire from
daily activities. After taking a bath, after worshiping Lord Vishnu, Shankar,
and Jupiter, they worship Vyas Ji.
On this day, wearing white or yellow cloth, the picture of
his guru is kept in the north direction. Aarti and worship are done by wearing
a garland of flowers, offering it to the devotee, and then taking the blessing
of the Guru by touching it.
Importance of guru Poornima
Guru is the most important thing in our life. Progress is
possible only with the help of Guru in the spiritual path. Guru is such a
philosopher that makes a disciple superior to himself. Guru removes the life of
his disciple from darkness and leads to light.
In the Puranas, Brahma is called Guru because he creates
creatures, similarly, Guru also creates his disciples. Along with this,
according to the mythology, Lord Shiva had taught yoga to the Saptarishis on
the day of Guru Purnima, due to which he also came to be known as Adi Yogi and
Adiguru.
Guru is Brahma,
